Bringing summer joy and celebration to families in the Downtown Eastside Community for 25 years!
For the 25th year running, we hosted our annual Summer BBQ, alongside lead sponsor, Glowbal, for a delightful time of community bonding, delicious food, and family friendly activities. Created with families who might be experiencing food or housing insecurity in mind, this event brings together families and community members for an afternoon of celebration and joy.
We had the pleasure of meeting and connecting with over 3000 people, who joined us in fellowship and food. Kids were be able to play on bouncy castles, get their faces painted, and enjoy lawn games with their families. Adults had lots to enjoy, too — Glowbal Restaurant Group grilled up delicious burgers and hot dogs with all the fixings. Looking around Oppenheimer Park, we saw thousands of smiling faces — community members, volunteers, and staff were even dancing together.
With the dedication of over 100 volunteers, we were able to make the Summer BBQ possible, including many Glowbal chefs, staff, and longtime patrons, who are excited to return to the BBQ to volunteer.
