Last week, the Downtown Eastside came alive with joy, music, and much-needed connection at our 12th Annual Summer Connect.
While access to housing remains a critical need, our neighbours are often navigating a web of other challenges from limited access to physical and mental health care, difficulty obtaining identification, and navigating digital forms. But on this day, barriers were replaced with open doors.
Thanks to the support and generosity of our donor community, nearly 2000 neighbours received connection and care in one welcoming place!
With the help of over 35 local service providers, vital resources were brought directly to the community members:
- Foot care and haircuts
- Mental health referrals and legal aid
- Employment and ID support
- A warm meal and great conversation
It was a celebration of resilience, and a reminder of the importance of community. Together, we’re building a future filled with hope, dignity, and belonging.
