The Opportunity

Do you have strong interpersonal and collaboration skills? Do you enjoy building positive relationships with women in the Downtown Eastside? Are you adaptable, client-centered, and service-oriented?  Then we may have an opportunity for you.  We are seeking a Ministry Support Worker, who is responsible for assisting the Women & Families Outreach Team in ministering to marginalized women living in the neighbourhood of the Cordova facility. In this position you may be assisting with referrals, program activities, material needs of the women, and other tasks the women need help accomplishing.  The reception post is considered an essential service, and you will be required to cover the post during critical staffing moments. 

This is a ministry position and a personal knowledge and experience of the saving work of Jesus Christ is a prerequisite. If you possess strong interpersonal skills, have related work or volunteer experience, and can successfully set healthy boundaries with demanding individuals and those in crisis situations, this might be a great opportunity for you.

You will frequently deal with clients in crisis situations, brought about by diverse problems.  There will be other staff nearby to assist as required. 

This is an auxiliary, full-time (37.5 hours per week) position. The starting wage for this position is $22.32 per hour. The schedule is Sunday 1-9, Monday/Tuesday 3 pm to 11 pm, Wednesday 10-6, Thursday 9-5. Hours worked between 10pm – 6am include a $2/hour shift premium.  For a copy of the full job description, click on the "Download Job Description" button on the right panel of this page.
