Jason's Story

There was a time in Jason’s life when he didn’t receive much encouragement. Raised in a tumultuous home, Jason experienced abuse from a young age. “It was quite chaotic,” he recalls. “It was an acceptable environment for drinking and doing drugs. What was not accepted was to go get help.”

Lexi’s Story

For Lexi, childhood comes with happy memories. “I was really into singing. Singing was my thing.” Growing up in West Vancouver, Lexi performed in talent shows and as part of her high school rock band, and her home life was a supportive one. “I had a positive childhood.”

Vonda's Story

When we meet with Vonda on a sunny evening in the summer, she’s just about to graduate high school. In a few days, she’ll walk across the stage, and then have a celebratory hotel dinner with friends the week after. She has a dress picked out: a floral, princess-style gown. “I get to ride in a limo for the first time,” she says, smiling.
