It was a joy to celebrate Thanksgiving on Monday, Oct 9, with our neighbours across Metro Vancouver. Thanks to our generous donor family and volunteers, we were able to serve 2,297 meals and demonstrate Christ's love to people in need of hope this Thanksgiving!
With more than 4,800 people currently experiencing homelessness in Metro Vancouver and as food insecurity continues to creep into homes across our communities, we recognize how important it is to provide a space for folks to break bread, without breaking the bank.
Our Thanksgiving meal was an opportunity for us to share how grateful we are for our community – to infuse joy, and to begin weaving threads of hope. For so many of our neighbours facing poverty or experiencing homelessness, this free turkey dinner with all the fixings was an opportunity to connect with friends during a season that can feel isolating for many.
THE MEAL
- 2000 lbs of turkey
- 750-800 lbs mashed potatoes
- 250 litres gravy
- 750-800 lbs vegetables
- 250 litres cranberry sauce
- 575 pumpkin pies

And thank you to all the children who took the time to beautifully colour Thanksgiving placemats for our community members!
