Mary is a loyal monthly supporter of UGM with a big heart of compassion for her neighbours in need. “I’ve never been in the place where I’ve been hungry or didn’t have a safe home. I can’t imagine what that would be like, how difficult it would be to not have any hope. So I want to do what I can to help people who don’t have a meal to eat or a safe place to sleep.”
Four years ago, Mary made a donation to UGM. She was later invited to tour the building and meet the people that we serve, hearing their stories. This experience made a lasting impact on Mary and further confirmed why she wanted to give. “I love that UGM is a place where people can always go for support and that there are also outreach workers who go out and find people who need help.”
Seeing firsthand the life-changing services UGM provides led Mary to support UGM regularly. Mary is unable to volunteer because of physical concerns, but she’s happy to be able to give back by partnering with UGM as a monthly donor. Monthly giving has provided an easy, convenient way for her to give consistently.
Mary likes how she can put aside a set amount to donate to UGM in her monthly budget. “It makes it easier for me to budget my expenses on a month-to-month basis and it also makes things easier for the UGM staff, because they know what to expect every month. I appreciate that I also get updates from UGM regularly from email and Facebook because I get to see where my donations are going and how they make an impact.”
One of Mary’s strong beliefs and missions in life is to help out others who are in need and to show them that someone cares for them. And because of that inspiring compassion, she has helped continually transform the lives of those struggling with homelessness and poverty. You can also follow in her footsteps and make an ongoing impact on those who need support the most!
